what is Tampah?
Tampah, penampi, or nyiru is a tool used
for winnowing, namely cleaning rice from husks or other grains of cereal from
the skin. Tampah is generally in the form of large round trays (approximately
65–80 cm in diameter) made of woven bamboo tree trunks.
Winnowing rice with winnowing is generally done to clean
rice from dirt before washing and cooking. Winnowing with winnowing can be done
by sifting manually by hand, then the dirt will be automatically removed. In
addition to winnowing rice, winnowing is also useful for placing snacks
commonly called cake winnows. Tampah is also used as a base for tumpeng, and
also for drying crackers or gendar. This tool is still widely used by the
people of Indonesia because the winnowing is a relatively inexpensive and
practical tool in use.
